The monastery is built on picturesque hills covered with forest and occupies two terraces - on the upper one is the monastery itself, farm buildings, and on the lower one is a stone basin and a pond. The architectural ensemble includes two churches, nine different buildings, including cells for monks, a large garden and a stone basin. Curchi Monastery
There are several legends about the foundation of the monastery. One of them says that the founder of the monastic community is Iordache Curchi, a resident of the nearby village of Morozeni. In 1773, he took the tonsure under the name John and built on his own land a wooden church in the neo-Byzantine style, in honor of St. Great Martyr Demetrius. Later, Iordache Curchi became the first abbot of the monastery, to the development of which his closest relatives also contributed.
At that time, the monastery complex was surrounded by a high stone wall with towers at the corners.
