The Cuizăuca Monastery is located in the heart of a forest and is named after Saint Basil the Great. It was founded in 1999 by several monks on the ruins of a former pioneer camp. Initially, the monastery was consecrated in the name of Saint Ephrem the Syrian and Saint Anthim of Iveron.
Later, the monks dispersed around the world and currently the monastic community consists of four nuns and a spiritual father who has been in Cuizăuca since 2002.

According to archival data, about 300 years ago there existed a small monastery here. A charter from 1778 shows that the ruler Alexander Ghica resolved a dispute between two landowners regarding the delimitation of their properties, which bordered the monastery estate.
