The National Art Museum of Moldova is Chișinău's main museum, housing a collection of 39,000 works spanning from 15th-century iconography to 21st-century painting. In about ninety minutes you can explore it all: European, Russian, and Moldovan art, striking Soviet-era bronze sculptures, and rare icons by unknown masters — all set inside a beautiful historic building, once a girls' gymnasium.
