Horești Monastery is an active men's monastery in Ialoveni district, founded in 2000 on the site of a former machine and tractor station. The church, bell tower, and chapel stand right on the shores of Piatiheatki Lake — it's remarkably quiet here, and the monks are known for being genuinely open to conversation. Best visited on a weekday morning when you can have the place almost entirely to yourself.
