The Holy Ilie Male Monastery is located in the village of Nicoreni and was founded by Archimandrite Rafael Bodiu in the summer of 1992. The monastery is situated on the territory of the former children's camp, built in 1975 and closed in 1991. Nicoreni Monastery The monastic complex consists of two groups of buildings. This church combines the Russian church style with elements of traditional Moldovan architecture. The church is two-level, with three altars on each level. The six-altar cathedral is a rarity. Only in the Hancu monastery is there a church with seven altars. The buildings that were best preserved were repaired and consecrated in 1994. The former refectory was rebuilt into a church in honor of the Mother of God 'Purtatoarea de multe rele'.
