The monastery was founded in 1932 by Metropolitan Gurie (Grosu) of Bessarabia on a plot of land covering 50 hectares, donated by the peasant Vasile Pistol (Kistol) from the village of Sadaclia (he later took monastic vows under the name Varsonofie). The first abbot was Hegumen Iacint (Cobanu), who had been a disciple of Metropolitan Gurie. In 1932 the monastic community numbered 20 people. Metropolitan Gurie showed special care for the monastery, which is why it was called "the monastery of Metropolitan Gurie".
In 1936, under pressure from King Carol II, Metropolitan Gurie was dismissed. In 1937 the monastery was closed and turned into a concentration camp for clergy. At least 33 clerics were imprisoned there. From 20 December 1938 the camp was converted into a women's camp. In spring 1940 all prisoners were released. The revival of the community began, but it was interrupted in June of that year by the annexation of Bessarabia to the USSR. On 24 October 1941, after the return of Romanian troops, the Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decided to revive the community as the Sadaclia Women's Monastery. The name was changed so as not to mention Metropolitan Gurie, who was in disfavour with the king. Nuns from the Varzaresti Monastery, led by Abbess Veronica, were moved into the community. In February 1943 the nuns were forced to move to the skete in the village of Iserlia. From then on the monastery was referred to as Sadaclia-Iserlia. A prisoner-of-war camp was set up in the monastery complex itself, and after the return of Soviet troops, a camp for political prisoners. In 1950 a hospital was opened there. Eventually the hospital was closed, and the monastery buildings fell into ruin and were dismantled for building materials. Monastery of St. Hierarch Nicholas
