Монастырь Цигэнешть

About: Boyar Lupu Dencă and several răzeși from the commune of Cobâlca, which is now called Codreanca, decided to build their own monastery. Thus, the Cigănești Monastery appeared in 1725. In that year, a small wooden church appeared on this territory, but the beginning had already been made. And the abbot of the first church was elected as Hieromonk Samuil. In 1846, the first wooden church of the monastery, named in honor of the "Dormition of the Mother of God", unfortunately, was demolished. In its place, a stone church was built. When the abbot Gheorghe Gedian lived in the monastery, it was decided to build a second church. It was named and consecrated in honor of Saint Nicholas and built in 1868. It was decided that this would be the winter church. In 1960, a disastrous year for Moldova, a large machine arrived at the monastery. All 165 monks were taken out of the monastery, loaded into the machine and taken in an unknown direction. The promise to transport all the monastic utensils, icons, books to Hârbovăț was not fulfilled. Everything was burned.
