Шолданешты - Каньон

Șoldănești - Canyon - In the eastern part of Șoldănești, a picturesque canyon begins, 16 km long and 120 to 160 meters deep! It ends at the Dniester River. At the bottom of the canyon, a tributary of the Dniester, the Chorna River, flows, and on one of the slope terraces, at the end of the 19th century, the railway section “Bălți – Râbnița – Slobidka (Ukraine)” was built. Since ancient times, in the rocky slopes of the canyon, the population has extracted building material – crushed stone and limestone. Here, lime was also produced.
