✍️About this place
The Răchula Convent for Women is situated on the banks of the wonderful Ikel River. This place is a haven for Moldovan women who have dedicated their lives to humble service to God. It is located in Ungheni district, 46 km from Chisinau. The founders of the Răchula Nativity of the Virgin Mary Convent in 1797 were the village priests - Andrei Pascan and Ioan Rosca, who with the help of small landowners built a hermitage on donated lands. Răchula Monastery
After World War II, monastic complexes were closed. The Răchula Monastery was no exception. Only in 1990 was the monastery reactivated. By 2000, there were 90 nuns in Răchula. The energy and devotion of Abbess Eustafia Rotaaru and Mother Lavrentia led the monastery to exemplary order.
