✍️About this place
The Troitsa Female Monastery is located in the village of Rudi, Soroca district, at a distance of 170 km from Chisinau. The monastery is situated in the heart of the Rudi-Arionești natural complex, near the Dniester River. The Rudi Monastery, sometimes called Rugy, is located near a stream that crosses the forest.
The monastery was founded in 1777, when on the lands of the local landowners, brothers Andronache and Teodor Rudi, and with the money of the Podolian merchant Donciul, the Holy Trinity Church was built in the traditions of old Moldovan architecture. The construction was completed in 1828, during the reign of Alexandru Ghica Vodă. Initially, it was a men's monastery.
The Holy Trinity Church has a length of 17.70 meters and a width of 12.30 meters, including the apses. The outer wall is 9 meters high, and the tower with the cross rises to 20 meters. The church has a trefoil shape, with walls almost a meter thick. The narthex is located in the southern part of the church. Inside, the narthex is separated from the nave by a wall supported by two strong columns.
