✍️About this place
In the north of the country, 160 kilometers from Chisinau, lies the city of Soroca, known among tourists visiting our country. The most famous local attraction is the Soroca Fortress, which has survived to this day in its original form, built 5 centuries ago. In addition, at the entrance to Soroca, on a picturesque hill, stands the Candle of Gratitude - one of the calling cards of Moldova, without which the country's attractions would not have been so diverse and interesting. The Candle of Thanksgiving was erected by the Moldovan author Ion Druc, who proposed to raise a tribute to all the heroes who managed to preserve the language, traditions, culture and history of Moldova. At the same time, the monument reminds of the large number of destroyed monuments of Moldovan culture. In 2004, thanks to the efforts of the authorities, notable personalities and ordinary citizens who contributed financially, the Candle of Gratitude was opened.
