In the heart of the central park "Grigore Vieru" rises the Cathedral with the Temple of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel, a national category architectural monument. The holy place dates back to 1785, from the beginning it was a wooden church, having only the Temple of the Holy Archangel Michael, rebuilt from brick in the early 1930s. In 1838 the church was transformed into a Cathedral. In 1850, at the wish of the wife of the governor of Bessarabia P.I. Fedorov, the exterior of the holy place was changed again to a larger stone building. In 1962 the activity of the church was stopped, reopened in 1990.
